International Human Rights Day
Urmas Reinsalu,
MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS
"Our most important task is to make sure that the atrocities and similar aggressions Russia is committing against Ukraine and its people would not be repeated elsewhere in the world. Estonia continues to consistently support Belarusian citizens and the society's pursuit for democracy and maintaining focus on the massive violations of human rights and international law in the country."
Dmitri Muratov,
NOBEL PEACE PRIZE RECIPIENT 2021
"I formulated President Putin's idea, which I will pass on in my own words....That dying for your homeland is the point of living! That is the primary violation of human rights. The right to life is a fundamental human right/.../Chaos is the era of dictators, what can oppose chaos? Only people's solidarity."
Oleksandra Matviichuk,
CENTRE FOR CIVIL LIBERTIES (КОМАНДА ЦЕНТРУ ГРОМАДЯНСЬКИХ СВОБОД/CCL)-NOBEL PEACE PRIZE RECIPIENT 2022
"A state that continues to violate human rights poses a threat not only to its citizens, but to peace in the entire region/.../And all the horror we are currently going through is the consequence of the impunity Russia has enjoyed for all the war crimes it has committed in different countries over decades/.../It is time to put an end to the chain of impunity, establish an international tribunal and bring Putin, Lukašenka and other war criminals to justice."
Belarus
There are more than 1438 political prisoners in Belarus, and most of them have been
imprisoned in the past 2 years. That is more than the total population of the islands of
Kihnu, Vormsi and Ruhnu combined. Suffering torture and mental terror behind a barbed
wire, the political prisoners have no connection to the outside world. The only
communication is by mail. Write a letter to a Belarusian political prisoner so that they know:
they are not alone!
CRITICIZE THE GOVERNMENT – TO PRISON!
Seems absurd?
This is how things are in Lukashenka's Belarus,
where there are currently 1439 political prisoners,
most of them have been imprisoned in the past two years.
